Delia Derbyshire on sounds

Her passion for sounds and details is really inspiring, and her productions has some kind of hidden pure beauty..

Claude Debussy - Prélude à l'après-midi d'un faune

One of the most beautiful pieces of music ever written; if you close your eyes, and think yourself as a random note, you can see what's going on around you...I'm sure this is far away from being a professional analysis of this masterpiace, but I really see "colors" while listening to this.

John Cage talking about silence and sounds

After watching this video, I totally changed my way to listen to music. The way he shows interest in the "sound" itself, made me focus also on the personality of every sounds, rather than "just" on the feeling of the whole track. For exemple, I now feel that the most beautiful sound that a violin can produce, comes from the "dirtyness" of its string, when you brush the arch against them. Our brain is not that trained to receive joy or any strong feelings from noises, but I'm sure that trough the right traning, also they can provide the effect the sound creates.
